Kangaroos are a mammals, specifically marsupials, from Australia.

Description[]

Kangaroos have large, powerful hind legs, large feet adapted for leaping, a long muscular tail for balance, and a small head. Like most marsupials, female kangaroos have a pouch called a marsupium in which joeys complete postnatal development. Larger kangaroos have adapted much better than smaller macropods to land clearing for pastoral agriculture and habitat changes brought to the Australian landscape by humans. Many of the smaller species are rare and endangered, whilst the larger kangaroos are relatively plentiful.

Role[]

Battle of the Smithsonian[]

In Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, 5 kangaroos were held in a crates within the federal archives of the Smithsonian Institution. When Larry Daley and George Armstrong Custer drove into Kahmunrah's guards, they scattered. 1 soldier held onto the side of the kangaroos' crate, causing it to open and release the marsupials. They hopped alongside the motorcycle Larry and Custer were driving in until the vehicle took a U-turn. They later joined the other released animals in the stampede.

Trivia[]

  • The kangaroos are possibly either red kangaroos or eastern grey kangaroos.
